Predictions for La Liga Fixtures (3rd April)

Espanyol vs. Getafe

This is an interesting fixture where it would be hard to back any side with strong confidence even though the hosts are currently at 14th place while the visitors are 10 ranks above them. The reason for that is mainly the host's brilliant home record where they stand undefeated for over 66% of the times. The visitor’s away record is not that dreadful but they have draws written all over their fixtures on road (50%). Their recent head-to-head fixtures were mostly dominated by Getafe but they were the hosts in those games and their current record does not say much about their away form against this team. Both teams have almost similar scoring potential but the one thing in favor of the visitors is their rock-solid defense where they stand with a very low conceding rate of less than a goal/match. The visitors have surely disappointed their fans in the last game where they lost to Leganes in a home fixture but they are a much better team to back. It might turn out to be a challenge for the visitors to pull this one off with a strong margin but they can at least grab a victory here.

  • Handicap 0.0 Getafe @2.2 is a safe option
  • Away win @3.29

Villarreal vs. Barcelona

For a short period of time, the hosts had got the audience on their toes with a winning streak that pulled them out of the relegation zone in a flash. Their fans got high hopes which were elegantly responded by the team in the form of wins against Zenit, Rayo and even Sevilla. Sadly, their good form was put to dust by none other than an underdog Celta de Vigo. To put another nail in their coffin, the mighty hammer of the league is visiting them tomorrow with an unbeaten record in their last 6 games. The visitors are not only unbeaten but they are smashing their opponents along the way with 3 goals on average while conceding at a low rate of 1. They didn't even let the Madrid's get away with a win and defeated them in both away fixtures. But, the only thing that would make a difference is that probably Messi might not be in the playing squad because the team has got tougher fixtures ahead and this may not be an easy win for the visitors. Nonetheless, the odds are good to back them as they still have Suarez, Pique, Alba, and Roberto in the squad.

Predictions for La Liga Fixtures (4th April)

Athletic Club vs. Levante

The hosts are on a roller coaster pattern, they dip, they draw, they recover and it gets hard to say where might the next dip lie. In the recent scenario, they only lost to Valencia in an away fixture and things got a little unlucky against Espanyol where they pulled off a draw but nonetheless, their overall performance is neat and they are a balanced side in terms of attack and defense. The visitors in this fixture, however, have similar attacking potential but a poor defense which has got them into trouble until now. They have let their opponents pocket more goals than they have scored. The maximum they could fetch from their recent fixtures were 2 hard fought draws. The visitors away form is also much inferior to that of the host's home form. In addition, the hosts are coming to this fixture in high confidence as they defeated the proud Girona in their last away fixture.

Huesca vs. Celta Vigo

The fight of the underdogs is always as interesting as that of the toppers but just with a different aim. Both teams in this fixture desperately want to move out of the relegation zone and time is tieing a stronger knot for them as the season is entering its final stage. Both teams are in a terrible form but the hosts have surprised us with a win against Sevilla while the visitors got one against Villareal. The key point in both matches was that the teams were playing at home grounds where Huesca has got an edge in this case with their better home performance (50% wins). The visitors have a terrible away form where they not only lost almost all of their matches but also found it hard to score. If we must choose between the two underdogs, I would prefer the one from the home ground.

Eibar vs. Rayo Vallecano

One thing about the hosts is admirable that they strongly resist the defeat whether it is in the form of a late goal to level the score or not letting the opponent score at all. They have considerably improved their defense because of which most of their games end up in a draw. They seem to be satisfied with their current position at the top of the second half of the table and would be looking for a winning chance from the fixtures such as the one at hand. The visitors are enjoying the relegation zone due to their leaky defense which was breached twice as much as they could score. With such poor defense, it would be hard for them to secure a win even against a struggling team like Eibar. The visitors have almost lost all of their recent fixtures and their away form is also questionable, which makes the choice obvious.

Valencia vs. Real Madrid

A long-awaited clash between the two teams with considerably nice form. The hosts are undefeated in their recent fixtures and they would do anything to keep that going as they aim towards the Champions League qualification. Imho, they deserve that spot as they have fought hard to get here and now that Madrid stands in their way, I believe they might pull off a reasonable result from this fixture as well. The hosts have been equally exceptional in their home/away fixtures and they secured a total of 100% win/draws while the visitors are facing defeats lately. Madrid lost 50% of their recent fixtures but their away form is pretty decent, which would make this fixture even more exciting. A draw would probably be the most agreeable result for both teams but seeing the visitors a challenge might drive the home team to push it a bit further. I am predicting a 2-1 or even a 2-2 score, therefore, I shall take home/draw double chance.
