The now Mayweather trained Pakistani champion has a scheduled bout against the hardened veteran Moruti Mthalane. Moruti must not be underestimated by Waseem as he was able to dispatch the highly promising fighter on a resurgence in Zolani Tete (although that was 8 years ago).

Jeff Mayweather (who is the uncle of Floyd Jr.) is training Waseem full time, and the 8-0 undefeated prospect with over 300 amateur fights under his belt will be an even greater threat with the defensive fundamentals he is building. The Mayweather's are one of the smartest teams in boxing, and they craft their offense around their defense. If you've seen Waseem fight you know he needs no work on his offense, he is an absolute monster with a vicious pace.

The Silver Flyweight champion carries heavy pride with his home nation of Pakistan, and he at times has held anger towards other Pakistani fighters (such as Amir Khan) due to their not helping of nationals in terms of gyms or promotion. Waseem himself in fact had no camp or money to train for quite awhile because he chose to live in Pakistan, but his move to the states has proven to be an advantageous move. It was unfortunate that Muhammad was forced to withdraw from his title fight previously scheduled, but his training coincided with Ramadan and he wasn't able to put his full self into each gym session.

There are few the mindset and fearlessness of this man in the ring. With over 300 amateur fights and an Olympic pedigree, Waseem remains a threat to any of the lower weight divisons within any boxing organization. This is surely the champion to keep an eye on as he has added the Mayweather blueprint to his arsenal, and that can only be a great thing.
