Anthony Joshua retained his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles after knocking out Alexander Povetkin on Saturday at Wembley.

Its was a tough start for Anthony Joshua in the start of the match as Alexander Povetkin came top in the first round , this was so bad for Joshua as this weakened the crowd cheering for him right from the beginning. Another thing that put the supporters of Joshua in doubt was the injury sustained by him in the nose that bled profusely, this resulted in Joshua coming in the second round a little bit unsettled but managed to survive the onslaught from Alexander who wanted to end the bout as fast as he could.

Then came the third round where Joshua made use of his much garnered experience as he started responding gradually with single jabs. The fourth round Joshua picked up pace and even gave Alexander an injury on the left eye as Anthony got himself back in the game.

The fifth round was a joy to watch for the fans of Joshua as he continued his onslaught at povetkin who remained in the match up to the sixth round despite been tired but was knocked out in the seventh round at only two minutes of the round by Joshua who delivered punches that sealed the game as he knocked Alexander out.

After the match, Joshua commended his opponent who he described as a tough challenger.

Anthony Joshua's victorymakes it 22 wins from 22 fights, with 21 knockouts forthe "the never say never boxer", who never fails to live up to expectations.
