On July 27th in the Dominican Republic, the World Boxing Association (AMB/WBA) Interim Super Lightweight World Championship will be held between undefeated Dominican boxer Alberto 'La Avispa' Puello and undefeated boxer Jonathan 'Maravilla' Alonso, born in the Dominican Republic but residing in Spain.

Jonathan Alonso will look for the world belt in the Dominican Republic before his compatriot Alberto 'the wasp' Puello. This will be the first time that two boxers born in the Dominican Republic fight for a world title.

The fight will take place at the Coliseo Carlos Teo Cruz in Santo Domingo and will be in the program 'KO to drugs'.

Puello's latest performances

Puello (16-0, 9 KO's) had a successful 2018 and feels ready to defeat Alonso in great shape and be crowned champion in front of his people. Last year he played a total of 2 fights, one in the month of March against Erick Lopez who won by unanimous decision and then by the end of the year in November, David Bency would be his opponent, who he beat by way of technical knockout in 3 rounds.

Alonso's latest performances

For his part Alonso (18-0, 7 KO's) had a 2018 much more active than Puello with a total of 4 fights, in which he won all 4 and in 2019 he fought against Ruben Garcia who was beaten by technical knockout in 7 rounds.

Alonso is not very well known in the Dominican Republic, but in the Spanish boxing environment he is an idol. He is born in the Dominican Republic, but naturalized Spanish, he even represented Spain in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

No doubt this match will be a very explosive duel, where the winner would become the Dominican king of the super light (140 pounds) and would be very close to an opportunity for an absolute world championship match.

Who do you think will win this duel? Will it be by decision or by nockout?
