Tyson Luke Fury (The Furious One) is a professional British boxer. Tyson nemesis which is drug abuse is one of the greatest challenge faced by boxers.
In 2015, Fury was accused of taking performance enhancing drugs(which he denied taking)shortly before winning the world titles. He said “why don’t they just legalize drug in sports” this really touch me will it be fair if a boxer take drug before fight against another boxer who is not taking drugs? NO its totally unfair. Drug abuse in boxing is one of the most serious issues and its worse in boxing than any other sport.
Tyson Professional Boxing Record
He had 27 different fight during his professional career,and he won 19 fights by knockout and 8 fights by decision. His boxing license was banned in 2016 by UKAD due to drug abuse and other allegations which expired on 12th December 2017.
In January 2018 Tyson announces through his twitter account that he would be reapplying for his boxing license through the British boxing board of control. In April he announced that he had signed a deal with frank Warren’s Queensberry promotions. He stated that he intended to fight at least three times before 2019.
Recently he was able to fight against Seferi with a knock out at round 4 on 9th June 2018 and against Francesco Pianeta (two-time world title challenger) on 18th august 2018 with a knock out at round 10.
WHAT DRUG ABUSE COST FURY?
- Banning for almost a year.
- Financial instability: He posted on his twitter that he faced financially instability during that period when he was banned.
- Bad reputation: He can’t participate in some boxing challenge without submitting is daily drug test.
RECENT DRUG ABUSE IN BOXING
The bout bout between the Mexico’s boxer Saul Canelo Alvarez and Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin has been postpone to 15th September 2018 because of drug abuse by Canelo Alvarez.
He was given a six-month ban after being found to failed two drugs tests in 2018. Canelo claimed the high level of the illegal drug(clenbuterol) was as result of eating contaminated meat which I don’t believe because they had a fight before in September 2017.
The bout ended in draw after several punch-punch punishing 12 rounds, during the fight Golovkin had edge over the contest on points.
The question is that can this be responsibly for Alvarez action or its true that the high level of clenbuterol is as result of eating contaminated meat?
According to WBC boss Mauricio Sulaiman, he wanted the 36-years old Canelo to be off the hook ahead of their rematch. He said “The tests did not shows that he ingested a prohibited substances, everything indicates that it was contaminated by means of Food, a number of subsequent tests have been done in which he was clear, and I think that chapter should be turned over now”.
