Sandeep's team Melbourne Stars is deprived of winning Big Bash League title. In the final, Stars lost against neighbour Renegades by 13 runs. After losing the toss, Renegades scored 145 runs in 20 overs. Christian scored highest 43 runs for the team while Team Kooper scored 28 runs. With 80 runs partnership between these two, Renegades scored respective 145 runs.

For Melbourne Stars, Sandeep Lamichhane bowled 4 overs and cost just 16 runs but could not get the wicket. His spell consisted only one boundary. Melbourne Stars started outstandingly in the reply, was stunned by 132/7 in 20 overs. Dunk and Stoinis started really well, they got 93 runs partnership but Stars lost 7 wickets for just another 19 runs.

Ben Dunk and Stoinis scored 57 and 39 respectively but none of the other players crossed double digits mark. Tremen, Boyce and Cristian took equally 2 wickets to stop Stars and win the BBL for the very first time.
