Hello to all my friends here, its been a tough tour for Sri Lanka against Australia just before few days as they were not able to perform well there. Sri Lanka had a good chance to win series in Australia because Australia was in the poor form of their lifetime but finally they won series after a long time because Sri Lanka team also suffering from the same period. Sri Lanka loss test series against Australia by 2-0 and now they will tour South Africa for 2 Test, 5 ODI and 3 T20 but they removed Chandimal and appointed Karunaratne for captain in the test so let discuss in details about team and tour.
After Heavy defeat against Australia, Sri Lankan cricket board not happy with some players especially Chandimal who was captain but not in form since long time and thus he not included in Squad which will play against South Africa which is big surprise because he was senior player who not in form but good experience of playing in South Africa. Chandimal only made 24 runs in 4 innings in the previous series against Australia. he was struggling against pace battery of Australia and his previous series also not well as not able to score runs and that is why their board took this decision. Angelo Mathews who is an only consistent batsman of Sri Lankan team also still not fit and not part of the team so its very inexperienced team will visit South Africa.
Sri Lanka included lots of new faces this time and look like they are doing something new because Dilruwan Perera who was their leading spinner also not in the test squad, not only this but Lahiru Kumara who was brilliant in last South African tour was also not as well as Chamera too. look like Sri Lanka looks for big changes and not happy with team performance.we can understand this but Roshan Silva who was in good touch against New Zealand was also dropped from the team. now only Karunaratne and Dickwella looks promising player for them and thus both choose as captain and vice-captain respectively.
in some other team news, Lahiru Thirimanne, Milinda Siriwardane, Kusal Perera also in the squad who are ODI players who love to play shots so it's great to see how they will handle in a test against pace battery of South Africa. Kaushal Silva who playing for Sri Lanka from many times but always in and out but this time he was lucky as he may play this time because of less experienced players in the team. there are some new faces like Oshada Fernando, Angelo Perera, Lasith Embuldeniya also part of the squad so it needs to see how they handle this pressure.
if we going to see overall, its a good decision to make lots of changes because Sri Lankan team is not performing well from many times and since their big players retired, they are looking for their replacement so maybe one or two players may become out as good for them. even with those players they not able to win matches or even given good fighting performance so its good to make changes because some players are performing well on domestic level so they definitely get chance for international level so let see who will get chance in playing 11 and will see at 13 Feb because first match will start from that day so check in the match and till than take care and goodbye.
