On the fifth and last day, the third Test started after a delay due to rain. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon, the two batsmen who were not out overnight came out to bat. But Cummins did not last long. He gave a catch to Pujara off the bowling of Bumrah and was out on 63 runs. By getting Cummins, Bumrah helped ease the pressure on the Indian team now almost assured of victory. India now needed just one more wicket to make history on the famous MCG. The job was done by Ishant Sharma in the next over when he had Nathan Lyon caught by Rishab Pant from a short ball that he bowled. The Indian team achieved a remarkable victory by 137 runs over the Australians.

This match was very important for both the teams and India won the race. Now India has the lead of 2-1 in this Test match series. The fourth and last match of the series will be played at the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground). In this match, India is expected to work hard and increase their margin of victory to 3-1. However, even if they only manage to garner a draw, they will still get the Border-Gavaskar trophy. If Australia defeats the visitors then series will be drawn.

The Indian team management had a few changes in this match. One change was very astonishing which was that Rohit Sharma came in at number six instead when I was expecting him to bat as an opening batsman. Apart from this, the Indians team introduced a new player Mayank Agrawal to international cricket. The skillful debutant opening batsman made history in his very first inning. Even in the second inning, when all the other experienced batsman went back to the pavilion rather cheaply, the Mayank batted soundly and took the Indian team total to a good and respectable position. It was really a good match for Mayank and which has given the selectors on the additional headache of how to fit him in the playing eleven.

The Man of the match trophy was awarded to Bumrah. He notched up 9 wickets from the two innings. He has bowled some great deliveries in this match. These were some of the highlights of the match.
