Two of the formats of international cricket which most people find very exciting would be the ODI and the Test Format. Unlike other sports such as football/soccer, people are more inclined to look forward with all eagerness to tournaments hosting countries. There are many main international formats when it comes to cricket. That would include the ODI, the Test series and so much more.

South Africa has some great players and among them would be their captain for the ODI and Test series. That would be no other than Faf Du Plessis.

Born in 1985, he is currently 35 years old. This means just one thing. The time is slowly coming where he would have to call it a day. So here is all we know about Faf so far.

We know that he has had a wonderful career with South Africa. When it comes to the Test series, it can be traced back to 2012 when he made a debut for South Africa. That debut would see him break a record at that early stage as he became the 4th South African to score a century at their debut. That was a great performance, to say the least. In 2013, he first becomes the captain of the T20 games before he was eventually made captain in 2016 of his country's Test series.

If there is one year which would surely remain in his mind, that would be the 2016/2017 season which can be rightfully deserved. The first record which he managed to break would be scoring centuries while being a captain. He becomes the very first captain to have centuries to his name across all formats which has been played. However, his achievements would not end there.

He becomes the very first person in the role of a batsman to get his century in all the formats at a particular location or field. This also made him the very first South African to score centuries in all formats of the game. He has also managed to score about 17 centuries across the three formats of the club which only adds to his allure. The fact that he has a captain band on while achieving this feat creates an extra dimension to what he has been able to achieve.

However, he was not without his issue. For example, he has been found guilty of trying to tamper with the ball by running it on his zip. The result of this was a fine for all his earnings which he got in the Test match against Australia on matchday two. That is surely something that adds just a little bit of spice to his very much decorated career records.

Conclusion

It has surely been a fulfilling career for him and one which he can look back with pride. He would no doubt want to finish up his career on a strong note. That strong note would most likely be achieved soon enough.
