If there is one thing which is not up for debate, that would be the fact that this year has been all about the English team when it comes to England. After their winning their first world cup in more than 20 years, it can be said that they are on top of the world. The players that achieved this feat would also surely be initiated into the folklore of the country and it would be remembered for a very long time. One such player and a batsman at that would be Jason Roy. Let us see if we can find more about this English star.

Who is Jason Roy?

29 years of age and very much at the peak of his career, Jason Roy is a cricket player who plays for Surrey and by extension also plays for his country whenever he is called upon to do so. This has led to him appearing for England in all forms of the game. He has also proven to be a great player having already made it into the top ten of the ICC ranking. He would surely be looking to at least remain in that ranking for some time to come.

While he plays for England, he wasn’t born in that country. Originally born in South Africa, he moved to the UK at the age of 10 with his family and from there, the rest is history. He has risen to become one of the present best right-handed batsmen in the game. His T20 debut came up against India and he made his ODI debut for his country when they played Ireland in 2015.

What has he achieved?

Jason Roy has achieved quite a handful especially when it comes to the international scene. One of his records can be seen in the partnership which he created with Alex Hales. That partnership led to a whopping 256 runs for him and he could not have expected anything much better than that. All this occurred without a loss of a wicket and broke the record for the partnership with the highest record of wickets in ODI in the history of the country. Not a bad way to introduce yourself.

When he partnered with Joe Root, he also did remarkably well. Scoring 181, he could not break his own record but at least took third in the all-time list for England. He also managed to get 221 runs when he faced Australia in 2018, a record which would be fresh in his minds and the minds of his fans as it only happened in 2018. He is simply incredible and that cannot be denied.

Conclusion

2019 was really the year that England saw the fruits of all their labor and so did the players. There is also no doubt that Roy played a great part in making sure that their efforts were successful. With his playing career sure to remain for a while, we definitely look forward to seeing him in action now and in the future
