Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has been ranked world's no.1 cricketer by International Cricket Council (ICC).

International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted on Sunday, "Virat Kohli is the second cricketer after former cricket captain Sachin Tendulkar who bagged no.1 ranking in test cricket. "

Virat Kohli performed splendidly in latest series in Edgbaston Cricket Ground.But India lost by 31 runs.

Virat Kohli scored 149 runs in the first inning and 51 runs in the second inning.

Based on this performance Virat Kohli replaced former test cricket no.1 batsman, Australian cricketer Steve Smith.

After Edgbaston Test Virat Kohli is at 934 points and Steve Smith has slipped to second position with 929 points.

VIRAT KOHLI NOT HAPPY!

After the Edgbaston Series came to an end Virat Kohli who is 29 said that his century means nothing to him unless his team wins.

Virat Kohli while talking to BBC Sports team stated , "Earlier I used to think about various other circumstances and how it would be like to play in other countries. But captainship changes ones perspective. I think more about the team than about myself now. "

He also said ," My century holds no meaning as my team didn't win. When you aim high such things look insignificant."

Before Virat Kohli, in the 2011 Sachin Tendulkar was ranked no.1 in test cricket ranking.






Before Kohli , Sunil Gavaskar was the only cricketer who scored more than 900 points in test cricket ranking. His score was 916 points.




Cricketers Donald Bradman with 961 points and Steve Smith with 947 points have scored highest points in test cricket history.




On Saturday International Cricket Council (ICC) released new ranking list. Apart from Virat Kohli on the list Cheteshwar Pujara also made it to the top 10 list with 791 points and is eighth on the list.


Currently on the International Cricket Council (ICC) list India is on top of test cricket list with 125 points and England is 5th with 97 points.
