Hello Scorumians,

Today I am going to tell a cricket player who is playing cricket with the New Zealand team that is View born in India.

Ajaz Patel is an Indian born New Zealand first-class cricketer who plays for Central Districts. Finger spinner Ajaz Patel was born in Mumbai and in early childhood, he had shifted to New Zealand. 29 years old Patel has been the highest wicket-taker in New Zealand's domestic cricket since last three years. Not only that, he was also awarded Domestic Player of the Year Award in the year 2017. In the current season of Plunket Shield, he achieved 48 wickets at an average of 21.52.

Indian born Ajaz Patel has been included in the New Zealand squad for the three-Test series against Pakistan team. This series will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October. 29-year-old Patel has been the highest wicket-taker in New Zealand's domestic cricket plunket shield since last three years. Not only that, he was also awarded Domestic Player of the Year Award in the year 2017. Finger spinner Ajaz Patel was born in Mumbai and in early childhood, he had shifted to New Zealand. In the current season of Plunket Shield, he achieved 48 wickets at an average of 21.52. He earned this success while representing the central district team. In the Kiwi Test team, two players of Indian origin, Vijay Rawal and Ish Sodhi have also got the place.

New Zealand's chief selector Gavin Larson announced the team and said that Ajaz has been included in the 15-member squad for New Zealand in place of injured Mitchell Saints. On the basis of consistent performance in domestic cricket, he was entitled to selection. They have been performing consistently well over the past few years. Gavin Larson said that Santner could not recover completely from his knee surgery. In such a situation it would be better to put two cast spinners (Todd Astle and Ish Sodhi) and a finger spinner in the team. The conditions in the UAE are expected to prove to be helpful for spin bowling. The selectors have also given Tom Blundell a place in the team as a backup of regular wicketkeeper BJ Watling.

I am proud that our Indian brother Ajaz Patel has been selected in the New Zealand team and I hope that will be performing well against Pakistan in the forthcoming matches. But there is little sadness of one thing that he is not in the Indian team.
