Mithali Raj is the senior most player in the Indian women's cricket team who is playing for the country from past two decades and is one of the prominent batswomen in the world. She has made her name in the shorter format of the game and has more runs than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in t20 cricket. But currently Mithali is going through a Controversy with head coach and other managerial staff.
In 2018 women's world cup India found their exit in the semi finals and unfortunately Mithali was not the part of that game. Mithali Raj has alleged that her exit was not on the basis of her performance but it was the discrimination showed towards her by the management. According to her she was humiliated and discriminated by coach Ramesh Powar in their t20 campaign in Westindies. After the exit of Indian team in the semifinal against England, Mithali wrote a letter to BCCI CEO and the general manager about the matter and the same was published by the India today website. Mithali stated all the happenings in that letter according to the letter the discriminatory behavior towards her started just after the arrival of team to Westindies. Mithali stated that being the senior pro she wasn't involved in any of the team matters which put a lot of stress on her head, her batting positions were changed from time to time without getting her into confidence, Mithali told that she hasn't practiced playing in the lower order from a long time and she was forced to do the same.
Coach wasn't in any mood to get her in as the opener in the much important match against Pakistan 🇵🇰 being aware of my record with Pakistan. It was only after the intervention of selectors that I got the chance to open the innings and made a 50 plus ➕ score. It was followed up by another fifty but in the match she was again forced to player lower down the order and eventually got an injury followed by fever. But according to Mithali she wasn't seriously injured but the stress lead her to fever.
A cording to Mithali, coach Ramesh Powar's Behaviour during the practice sessions also wasn't good and he ignored her all the way, according to her whenever she tried to walk towards him Powar used to look towards his phone and walk away or get engaged with other players rather than her. Whenever I used to practice in the nets Powar instead of watch me batting used to walk away from the scene.
There are other circumstances where I was discriminated says Mithali, but in another statement Powar told Mithali to stop blackmailing her, whether Mithali is wrong or it is the fault of Powar letus wait for the reality......
