ICC World T20 World Cup is going to start from October 2020 in Australia. To secure the place in T20 World cup Nepal needs to take part in three tournaments with good result. Nepal has played T20 World Cup back in 2014 in Bangladesh. At that time Nepal was eliminated from the first round with low RR compared to Bangladesh despite winning two matches. To play in ICC World T20 Australia Nepal will play the following qualifier tournaments.

How can Nepal Qualify FOr T20 World Cup Australia 2020

ICC World T20 Regional Qualifier B

Nepal has already won this tournament and advanced to next round along with Singapore and Malaysia. From the regional Qualifier A UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar are selected for the T20 Regional finals.

ICC World T20 Regional Finals

In the regional final, six teams are going to battle; only the top two teams will get a ticket to next round. The six teams are

  •  Nepal
  •  UAE
  • Singapore
  • Malaysia
  • Qatar
  •  Kuwait

Nepal will need to be in the at least second position of this tournament to play in the global qualifier.

2020 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier (Global Qualifier)

If Nepal manages to be in the top 2 positions in the ICC World T20 regional finals, then Nepal will play this tournament. In this tournament, 14 teams will take part, among them eight teams will be selected from regional qualifiers, and the team ranked from 11th to 16th position until 2018 December will take part in the tournament. The top six teams from this tournament will play the ICC World T20 Australia.

If Nepal manages to be in the top six positions, then we will sing “Sayau Thunga Fulka Hami Yeutai Mala Nepali...” Again in the World Cup T20. 

My Predictions

Team Nepal has already won the Regional Qualifier B. Now we are just two steps away from the ICC World Cup T20 cricket Australia 2020. In the Asian Regional Finals, I think Nepal will advance to the next stage along with UAE. The Global Qualifier is going to be the difficult tournament for Every team. If Nepal improves their batting, then I think we will book a place in World Cup T20 Cricket Australia.

I remembered when Nepal played T20 World Cup in 2014, we used to gather in the street and sang our national anthem “sayau thunga fulka hami yeutai mala Nepali....” and cheer our team. Whenever our player hit a run or take wickets, we used to dance and chant “Nepal...Nepal ..Nepal”. I want to see again my nation playing in T20 World Cup. I want to do those activities again :-)
