KANTO - Catching a perfect IV and shiny Pokémon in Pokémon: Let's Go! may be easier than you think. And it doesn't necessarily require luck.

Kaphotics, a data miner who can be found on Twitter, dug through the coding in Pokemon: Let's Go! and found that the more you catch a Pokémon, the better chance you have of catching a perfect IV and/or shiny version of that Pokémon.

Here is what he had to say about what his findings:

What we know about the game already is that you can rack up a "catch-combo," which is catching the same Pokémon consecutive times in a row. The catch-combo number is displayed on the top left of your screen when you are catching a Pokémon, that way you can keep track of the number.

NOTE - if you catch another Pokémon you will break the catch-combo chain. If you save the game and exit you will also break the chain. Entering an encounter with a Pokémon and running away will not break the chain, nor will a battle with a trainer break the chain either.

According to Kaphotics, the best chance of catching a perfect IV and shiny Pokémon is by getting a catch-combo of 31. You may spot a shiny or perfect IV Pokémon before you hit number 31, but your very best chance of getting one or both is on the 31st time.

Now as I mentioned at the very beginning of the article, catching a shiny and perfect IV Pokémon doesn't necessarily require luck. From what we've seen from the coding of the game, your luck is controlled in these types of situations, and your luck increases depending on how high your catch chain is. This is why I say luck isn't necessarily required because you can control it. Catching a perfect IV and shiny Pokémon comes down to mathematics.

In past Pokémon games, once you complete your Pokédex and show it to the Game Director he will give you a shiny charm which will increase your chances of catching a shiny Pokémon. Though it hasn't been confirmed that this can be done in Pokémon: Let's Go! one can assume it will be an option once the game is released. But like most things in this game, we won't know until the game goes public.

So until you complete your Pokédex, rack up some catch-combos and fill up your inventory with some perfect and rare Pokémon.
