We’re still nursing a hangover from that back-to-back OG win at the TI9, but now it’s time to get back up again and prepare for the odds awaiting this new season. The DOTA 2 Pro Circuit 2019-2020 is on, and we’re back in the Chinese soil for the first event of the season, the 2019 Chengdu Major.

It’s one heck of a starter, as with the massive amount of points a team can win in this event, the winners may just gain a ticket straight to the TI10. You wouldn’t want to miss this.

And so tradition lives on. If you’re rallying your bets for the event and wondering which teams are in and which teams are out, let me make that easier for you. Here are the teams that are poised to dominate the Chengdu Major based on Nitrogen Sports Blog’s esports betting guide on the DPC 19-20 favorites.

Favorites to Win The 2019 Chengdu Major

ViCi Gaming

ViCi placed 5th-6th at the TI9 and won 2 majors last season. Safe to say that the team is still part of the DPC royalty, as we’ve seen in their records. Historically, the ViCi Gaming has always had a great chance in every tournament they compete in because of their talented roster, good coach, and overall impressive play style that speaks consistency. Without a doubt, they’re one of the top teams to watch on Chengdu Major.

Although their performance at ESL One Hamburg left a lot to be desired - doing well in group stages and falling short in the playoffs - ViCi Gaming is still an elite team in the Circuit. They remain atop the world rankings of the best DOTA 2 players, just inches below OG. Fyw will have to compensate for Fade’s exit, though, knowing how well the latter has performed in the past season.

Evil Geniuses

The post-TI shuffle left a gray area on Evil’s chance of coming back strong this season. After losing one of their most prime members, Sumail, who was responsible for the reign of the Evil Geniuses in the past years, it’s hard to tell whether or not something good is in store for the team.

However, nothing can erase the fact that they’re still one of the teams to watch on Chengdu Major. what a lot of fans didn’t see coming is the arrival of two new powerful players. Evil Geniuses did some impressive additions to the roster which may as well be considered one of the most notable transfers in the DPC. What they lost in Sumail’s exit, they will gain in Ramzes666 and former Fnatic mid-laner Abed’s entry.

TNC Predator

TNC Predator is Southeast Asia’s best tribute. After replacing eyyou and KuKu with Kpii and March who are no strangers to the international stage, the team instantly catapulted themselves to the higher ranks of the 2019 Chengdu Major team favorites. The third one at that, after clinching their notable win of the season at the ESL One Hamburg 2019.

No wonder at all, as the TNC’s roster is packed with top-caliber players who’ll stage just as much fury in the coming Chengdu Major. Gabbi and Armel have been consistently receiving high reviews from the critics, as they should. TNC shows no sign of letting Tims go as well, who happens to be the longest running player of the team since 2016 and always coming in with powerful plays every time. With two new additions to this solid roster, expect the team to get included in the list of top teams to bet on this season.

We expect no less than excellence from these 2019 Chengdu Major team favorites, but of course the DPC remains highly unpredictable and sure enough there will be teams who might take that spotlight, like the sleepers. But so far, these are my best bets for the season.
