Since God-knows-when, the world of esports has been dominated by male players. But not for long - not when a new realm has just been unlocked by female power.

The First All-Female Esports Competition

ICYMI, a Valorant tournament exclusive to females was kicked off last September. That’s For The Women (FTW) Showdown - hosted by Comcast’s Spectacor Gaming, Nerd Street Gamers and Riot Games. The three-day event featured a staggering $50,000 prize pot.

And you can bet there were some solid female players who showed early signs of supremacy.

Top Female Contenders in Esports

Melanie “meL” Capone (MAJKL)

meL is the captain of Team MAJKL, the winner of the first all-female Valorant Ignition Series. The team has yet to be signed by a major esports organization, but the captain is fixated on just one goal. That’s not to be the best girl team in esports, but “to be a tier-one team”. And this win is a great stepping stone.

Benita “bENITA” Novshadian (GX3)

GX3 was short of claiming the FTW title after losing to Team MAJKL. However, one player stood out even in defeat. That’s bENITA. The female esports connoisseur quit her CS:GO career to focus on Valorant, which absolutely paid off. GX3 was at zero loss before stepping to the finals, which is pretty impressive for an up and coming professional esports team.

Emmalee "EMUHLEET" Garrid (Dignitas Female)

Out of all the 12 teams featured in FTW’s first stages, Dignitas was the first to stand out. Unfortunately, they barely touched the Finals, but they had one player that had real pro potential - EMUHLEET. Before entering Valorant, EMUHLEET was a professional CS:GO player who’s been in the B tier consistently.

As the esports industry grows bigger by the day, it’s only right that women take some space in this massive arena. And amidst all the unfortunate events that wrapped this year, we’re still lucky to see this huge leap in 2020.

It’s going to be an exciting ride for esports in the coming years, now that the industry is becoming highly inclusive. So while it’s early, be sure to crack open an esports betting guide to avoid getting left out.
