I already wrote a post about a favorite video game of mine: Scorched Earth (https://scorum.com/en-us/cybersport/@reverendrum/scorched-earth-the-mother-of-all-games), the Mother of all Games. Well something I think you fun Scorumites might find cool is that there's another artillery game based off of Scorched Earth, a spiritual successor, if you will: Scorched 3D.

Where Scorched Earth was a groundbreaking game in terms of its simple yet deep strategy and arsenal, Scorched 3D amps it up to the extreme in THREE DEE. This is clearly the artillery game of the future.

My favorite weapon is the Death's Head Warhead. It's a missile that splits into like 7 or 8 separate little missiles when its arc reaches its zenith. Those 7 or 8 missiles spread out, ensuring maximum carnage of everything in a large vicinity. If you want a player eliminated, I'd recommend the Death's Head to do the job. Large indiscriminate explosions is perfect for my playstyle: wanton destruction, while others might prefer the more precise or tactical weapons. There's no wrong choice, it's your preference that matters!

So Rev...what's the actual difference between Scorched Earth and Scorched 3D? Well...not much, aside from AN ENTIRE OTHER DIMENSION! Wow! Also there's online multiplayer and community-created mods.

But which is better? Scorched Earth or Scorched 3D? Personally, I'm more of a fan of Scorched Earth. I'm more partial to the older, 2D graphics, and I have a lot of fond memories of that game. That said, playing Scorched Earth with other people requires gathering around the same computer, which just isn't particularly convenient. The online multiplayer of Scorched 3D provides for that classic feel of Scorched gameplay with the convenience of not having to invite 9 other people to my house for a game and have to explain the buck heads and crossbows on the walls.

End of the day, I'll leave it up to you, the reader, to decide which game you like better. There's no right or wrong answer, and you're all entitled to your own opinion. That said, both games are free, so why not download and try them both?

“Be extremely subtle even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate.”
