Olympic Officials on Discussion on Esports - Image Source

It was really great news for eSports players that there had been a chance of adding eSports as one of the Olympic games. A meeting of officials from Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) where they discussed on possible integration of eSports to Olympic games.

The forum was held in Lausanne, Switzerland over the weekend with international sporting professionals, administrators together with some gaming community members, publishers, and media.

On their discussion, there are still no plans of adding eSports to Olympics but they keep it open where they will form an Esports Liaison Group to make it discussion and collaboration always to keep an eye on the future of eSports.

The formed Esports Liaison Group will hold a series of events to coordinate with the community on the discussions about eSports. Still, some top officials from Paris are still looking forward to eSports to be a part of Olympic games in 2024.

Even if eSports are still in discussion at least the officials are taking in consideration about digital sports. A good opportunity for those people who are really keen on digital gaming and the continuing trend of eSports around the world, where we can see many organized tournaments and competitions.

With Olympics nearing, Tokyo has already a list of calendar events for all the sports that are included in Olympic games. They have also finalized they Olympic mascots where it was voted by school children in Japan and then just recently they make a public appearance to the people of Japan where many did cheer and support the official mascots.

Aside from that Panasonic and Sony will partner with NHK to provide broadcasting standards for 8K video resolutions which they are eyeing to compete at the time of 2020 Olympics.

2024 Summer Olympics

ESports still have a chance in 2024 that will be officially be recognized. And as a supporter for such kind of eSports, I am looking forward on what types of games will be considered as an eSports game for Olympics since we are seeing too many eSports games.

What do you think about this? Would you agree that eSports will be considered in Olympic games or we will just put eSports as is today? Hope to see some comments and opinions on this.
