After 15 years we finally have a new WRC champion without first name Sebastien. And that's good for the sport. I mean who want to watch the same two guys being champions in 15 years. No one, I guess.

If you ask me, I would never say that Ott Tanak would be a champion at the start of the season. That's just something that was out of the mind because authority of Seb Ogier was sky high after being a champion with semi-private team of M-Sport Ford for the last two seasons.

To be sincere, if Citroen is not that big crap of the car, Ogier would be a champion again this season. But it is good for the sport that this has changed. And not for Ogier. At least he has a big salary at Citroen. There are also some rumors that he will drive for Toyota next season but I doubt that.

So we have new WRC champion with Toyota who already signed with Hyundai for 2020. That's a fail for Toyota at marketing side and good for Hyundai because they will have NUMBER 1 on their car next season.

Great stuff, Ott. Congratulations!

Some statistics from Tanak's career:

2004 - First rally with VW Golf,

2008 - First year with 4wd car, Estonian champion in N4 class,

2009 - Some WRC rallies, Estonian champion in N4, wins Pirelli Star Driver shootout,

2010 - Pirelli Star Driver, 2 wins in Production WRC class,

2011 - Three wins in SWRC class, 7th place in Sardinia overall, 6th place in Wales Rally overall,

2012 - Full season with Ford Fiesta WRC (M-Sport Ford),

2013 -2017 M-Sport Ford,

2018 - 2019 Toyota WRC team, 2019 World Rally Champion with Toyota Yaris WRC.
