We have a new rally class in FIA town called R4 and some of the cars are already produced and ran in some of the championships but never officially on some of the WRC rallies.
Now this will be changed and first WRC rally with R4 entry will be Monte Carlo Rallye 2020 and car will be Dacia Sandero R4 rally car. It doesn't have much with the road car beside chassis but the concept of the class is kinda strange.
Why to have R4 class which costs around 160 000€ for a car when there's a R5 class for something more. If you have 160k€ to spend on a rally car, then you have 90k€more for a much better and powerful car in R5 category.
I don't know what is the future of the smaller classes in rallying but I guess that R4 category is more for the national championships then for WRC.
