We cannot start a preview of the British Grand Prix without talking about Lewis Hamilton. After a bitterly disappointing race in Austria, Hamilton will be looking to bounce back and re-take the championship lead from Sebastian Vettel who holds a slender one-point lead over the brit coming into the British Grand Prix. Hamilton will be looking to win the British Grand Prix for a record 7th time come Sunday and to be honest, nothing less than a victory here will be able to satisfy both Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. Coming to his teammate Valtteri Bottas, who according to many has been the unluckiest driver in 2018, it will be very important for him to get a podium since he has now dropped down to 6th in the championship with 92 points. Mercedes will be looking to do everything within their power to make sure that the mechanical and technical side of the cars is taken care of since both the Mercedes cars retired in Austria due to mechanical issues.

Ferrari will be looking to put up a stern challenge for Mercedes after their strong showing in Austria. They now have a 10 point lead over Mercedes in the Constructors Championship. Ferrari's main man Sebastian Vettel will be looking for the win and extending his lead over Lewis Hamilton while Kimi Raikkonen will be looking to consolidate his position in the driver's championship where he is currently 3rd with 101 points, with a couple of wins and a little luck, Kimi might very well be back in the championship fight and we could very well see a repeat of the 2007 season but for now, all the attention is on Vettel who is looking good with almost half the season done.

Red Bull will be looking at their most recent race winner Max Verstappen to pull off something like Austria to have a real chance at Silverstone, with additional DRS zones and a few changes in a few corners, it is now a power circuit and Red Bull will be expecting to struggle here. However, both Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo have proved more than once that they can both challenge Ferrari and Mercedes on their day. A good result at Silverstone will definitely put Red Bull in a realistic place to challenge for the constructor's title. They are expected to struggle on Saturday but as they have been showing all season that they have a good race car on Sunday, a 3-way battle for the win is not an impossible situation.

After their strongest showing ever, Haas will be looking to gain confidence from it and put in another strong performance to put Renault under real pressure for the 4th place in the constructor's championship. They admitted that they had a little luck in Austria with all the retirements, but they won't be stupid to be expecting both Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean to finish in the points this weekend. Magnussen is currently 7th in the driver's standings and will be looking to hold on to that spot will Grosjean will be looking to pick up every point after failing to score in 8 of the 9 races so far.

After a disastrous performance in Austria, Renault will be looking to bounce back and score some points especially since Haas is literally breathing down their neck. Nico Hulkenberg will be looking for a change in fortune since he has been as unlucky as Bottas this season with multiple DNFs, while Carlos Sainz will be looking to put in a good performance after the struggle with tires he had in Austria. We can expect a strong competition between Haas and Renault for p7 and the rest of the points places, considering there are no retirements among the top 3 teams, which is unlikely, but possible.

McLaren will be looking for a fresh start after a few changes in management positions. Director Eric Boullier resigned this week following the team's dismal showing this season. The new man in charge of the responsibilities is Sporting Director Gil De Ferran and everyone at McLaren and Formula 1 fans in general, will be looking up to Ferran to bring about a change in the fortunes for the team. Stoffel Vandoorne will be looking to put in a good performance because, in all honesty, he has been long overdue. He has repeatedly claimed that he and teammate Fernando Alonso are on par when it comes to ability but that has clearly not been the case as Vandoorne is the only driver in the grid to have been out-qualified by his teammate at every single race. Fernando Alonso has been scoring points but everyone's guess would be that it is more down to his experience and talent than the team. It does look like another disappointing weekend on the horizon for McLaren.

After a strong showing on race day and a double points finish at Austria, Force India is on a high and the team will give their best efforts as team owner Vijay Mallya will be at Silverstone this weekend to keep a close eye on how his team is doing. Esteban Ocon will be looking to continue his run as he has clearly been the more consistent of the two drivers while Sergio Perez will be looking to score some crucial points and move up the driver's standings.

Sauber will be looking for a repeat of Austria where both Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericson finished in the top 10 despite starting from the 17th and 18th place in the grid. Leclerc has been putting in stellar performances throughout the season and yes, the rumours of Ferrari signing him for 2019 may have some truth to it. Ericson, on the other hand, has been on and off this season occasionally being very good. Another double points finish may be expecting too much but Sauber has been so good this season that fans are at least not afraid of expecting greater things, unlike some other teams.

After a strong start to the season, Toro Rosso has fallen off the boil a little in the past few weeks with both Pierre Gasly and Brendan Hartley not fulfilling both their and the car's potential. Hartley is the one under more pressure since he has only 1 point from 9 races and has been very disappointing, adding to the fact that he did not finish the race in Austria. Both drivers are positive about this week but we need to keep our fingers crossed regarding their ability to deliver on their promises this week.

It is the same old story as far as Williams is concerned this week with no real upgrades added, we can expect both Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin to fight for the scraps at best. They did show a slight improvement in Austria but that is clearly not enough to put up a fight with a rest of the teams. With sponsorships in jeopardy and a 'not up to the mark' car, it is really not looking positive for Williams.

With all that, we await the teams at Silverstone, arguably the home of motorsports and with all eyes on homeboy Hamilton, will it be easier for the other drivers to deliver? Only time will tell.
