The 2019 Formula One calendar draft will be completed by the end of August but there are probably only 20 races. Germany is not certain to go in and the race plan on the Miami circuit is still the embryonic stage.
F1 commercial manager Sean Bratches told Reuters at the German Grand Prix on Sunday that next year's schedule will be published before the Belgian race at Spa-Francorchamps on 26 August.
"... We have decided, in consultation with the authorities in Miami, to postpone sign-offs until later in the summer, with the target of organizing the first Miami Grand Prix Formula 1 in the 2020 season," he said in a statement.
The Miami city government will take a decision on the second round of the US race after the August recess.
Earlier sources told Reuters that Formula One had understood that Miami would be on the 2020 calendar soonest.
Bratches said Formula One wanted to defend Germany, the championship of Mercedes and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, in the calendar.
Hockenheim or any other circuit in Germany, is still under consideration.
"We are still interested in Germany," said Bratches. "There are three out of 21 countries whose governments do not support the grand prix - Austria, England and Germany, so we're trying to find the best way."
"We have not given up on entering Germany in 2019," he added.
"All parties want to come to an agreement, besides many circuits in this beautiful country."
