Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel admitted that Formula 1 is an important part of his life, but F1 certainly does not take the first place in it and does not define him as a person.

The four-time World Champion of the motorsport queen is one of the few F1 drivers who does not use social media. The German has already stated some time ago that he plans to protect his privacy and informing everyone about what he is doing at the particular moment is not necessary for him. It is also worth reminding that his nearest family, meaning the wife and two children, rarely appear during race weekends.

This behavior of the 31-year-old caused the former Formula 1 chief, Bernie Ecclestone, to say loudly that for the most prestigious racing series in the globe Lewis Hamilton's triumphs are more beneficial because he uses his networks on social media. Bernie Ecclestone also called Vettel a "bore". Nevertheless, Scuderia's representative has not changed his behavior and he still wants to be like that.

Of course, F1 is a big part of my life, but it's definitely not the most important thing in it. Everything is interrelated and racing takes a lot of my time, but it does not determine who I am. I do not feel special because I'm in F1. It does not define me as a person. I do many other things - assured the driver of "The Prancing Horse".
I am happy to do things that people think are boring but for me they are not,” he explained. “Being at home, mowing the lawn. I cook – not so good, but from time to time. I do the school run, I go shopping, I take the metro and the bus. I think it’s just normal to be normal. - added Germany.
I am sportsman, I am not celebrity,” What does it mean? "When I go somewhere and somebody recognises me I think they are interested in sport and not in how I do my hair, or which shoes I am wearing, or that bollocks". - summed up the 31-year-old player.

My opinion

Personally, I also think that it is important to be a normal person and to be yourself. If Vettel doesn't want to share his private life with the rest of the world, everyone else should respect his decision. It's not fair to call him a "bore" because he doesn't like to use social media. That's his decision and he has a full right to keep his privacy for him and the nearest family. It's also good to know that there are still people who are more interested in the sport they are practicing than in being a celebrity. We can see that such person is truly passionate about something he/she is doing. Nowadays people go out of their way to become a celebrity no matter what they are doing. Fortunately, in this case we know that it's all about being a professional racing driver not a celebrity. As a four-time World Champion for sure he is truly devoted to F1 but I think it's great that he has also other interests and he spend a lot of time with family. Good for him!
