Fantasy marathon – World Cup 2018. Part 3 – round 1 review

Last week was incredible. The World Cup 2018 was opened, and we saw the start of the Scorum blogging platform. Many of you have already begun to post the articles, to share your thoughts and expertise in different sport areas and to gain first rewards for that. Others, I believe, will decide about writing very soon. Scorum is planning to add to the blogging platform new tools for authors, which should make the content even more interesting and useful. Also big part of the community is waiting for the betting exchange with zero fees, which will open new opportunities for bettors and bloggers.

The fantasy noob blog will definitely develop together with Scorum. I will make more posts about fantasy football at WC2018, some “what to do” and “how to do” articles and soon we will start the preparations for a new season of Fantasy Premier League, which will start on August 11, 2018.

I have already created a short-term content plan and will be glad to involve you in regular fantasy activities. Later on this week, I received an unexpected present, which had slightly changed my blogging plans, but also brought me joy and nice experience. I visited World Cup 2018 game between France and Peru and will share my thoughts and photos here in blog very soon.

As only Fanteam has fantasy season tournament for WC2018 I will start the round 1 review from this platform.

Fanteam World Cup Season Game

I decided to make 3 entries in the main tournament with €22 entry fee each.

Team 1.

Total points: 57. Place: 548/1113 (548th place of 1113 participants)

Paolo Guerrero played only disappointing 28 minutes but made 3 shots inside the box.

Argentina did not impress in 1:1 draw with Iceland, and Taglafico failed to get a clean sheet in this game.

Following the strategy to save the transfers I avoided some defence stacking and picked up some players, that should perform well during the tournament. Danilo wasn’t the best pick for the first round but he should meet the expectations later during WC2018.

Unlike Neymar Lukaku did his job. Romelu made 3 shots inside the box and scored twice, which was predictable vs very weak Panama.

Team 2.

Total points: 60. Place: 469/1113

Germany and Colombia finished the first round with unexpected bad results taking away the points from my team. Kimmich, however, made 5 touches inside the box and 2 shots, and still have a potential for attacking returns in the next matches.

Rodriguez was the leading goalscorer of Colombia at the last tournament in Brazil four years ago. He injured his left calf in training before the match with Japan and was forced off the starting line-up. Playing only 31 minutes in this match James Rodriguez made just 1 shot and got a yellow card.

Harry Kane scored twice and was the highest scorer of this team.

Team 3.

Total points: 90. Place: 20/1113

The third team right now seems to be the most perspective. A good combo of penalty taker Granqvist (15 points), captain Lukaku (28 points) and Modric (12 points), who will be the leader of Croatian attacks on this championship.

Suarez was bad with his decisions and shots in the first match, but he should be a good asset during the tournament.

Fanteam World Cup Opening Weekend

This was the opening tournament for round 1 of WC 2018, and it brought me satisfactory results with 2 of 6 teams in prizes.

Entries: €42,9 (11+11+11+3,3+3,3+3,3). Winnings: €50,46 (43,22 + 7,24). Result: €7,56

€11 Team 1

Total points: 27. Place: 1292/1386

Failed at all parts of this team: bad stacks in defence together with captain Messi, who hasn’t converted the moments in fantasy points.

€11 Team 2

Total points: 36. Place: 1093/1386

The cheapest Germany defender Hector missed the match with illness. As information came too late, I was not able to replace him with another player. Anyway, Germany underperformed in the match with Mexico.

Brazilian defence was not the most obvious stack vs decent Swiss team, but it was worth a try.

€11 Team 3

Total points: 75. Place: 93/1386. Winnings: €43,22

Incredible Ronaldo, Iceland attacking stack and 3 assets from Croatia made the result.

As expected Eriksen showed good potential in attack with 5 shots (2 inside the box) and 4 touches in the penalty area.

€3,3 Team 1

Total points: 51. Place: 362/805

Cueva made 2 shots (both inside the box) and 9 penalty area touches, but failed to score the penalty.

Spain scored 3 goals, but Diego Costa was the player, who earned the most points, while Isco and David Silva got just 6 point together.

lloris wasn’t able to save a penalty and keep a clean sheet for France.

€3,3 Team 2

Total points: 60. Place: 194/805

This team could be in prizes with the right captain and Coutinho instead of Neymar. Aleksandar Mitrovich was very active and had 11 touches in penalty area and 4 goal attempts (all 4 shots inside the box).

€3,3 Team 3

Total points: 70. Place: 91/805. Winnings: €7,24

Kasper Schmeihel made 6 saves and brought 9 point to my fantasy team. Captain Eriksen (16 points) and Ronaldo (17 points) led this team to 91 place with €7,24 prize.
