This morning, I got a reminder email from Scorum team about WC2018 freeroll Quarter-Finals, and I quickly logged into the Scorum draft and set my team. The hardest part of making fantasy team is picking a set of players with your limited budget, and I believe most of you have struggled to pick 15 players with your budget of 100M. I struggled too. But there are a couple of changes for the quarterfinal round. They are:
- WC2018 freeroll Quarter-Finals have an increased budget of 110 M has increased the budget of 110M from 100M which will help you to pick top players from top teams.
- Now, you can have 4 players from a single team, which was limited to 3 players per team. It will help you to fill the players from top team.
I mentioned in the previous post, Fantasy is a frustrating game to play when your choices don’t go right and at the same time a most exciting game to play if your choices go right, and you end up getting high points. The case hasn’t been true in this World Cup with many unpredictable results and shocks. There are only top teams left in the tournament with top players. Its hard to pick the players for the team, and I had a hard time to balance the top players and the budget. But 110M really helped to get a team full of top players with 1 or 2 budget players. 1. Uruguay vs France:
The two former Champions will go to head to head in the first quarterfinals of this world cup. Both team have been superb in this tournament, as well as from Fantasy perspective. Uruguay managed 3 clean sheets in group stage and have only conceded 1 goals in this world cup but scored 7 goals. Saurez and Cavani have major contribution on those goals. France too scored 7 goals in this world cup but just managed 1 clean sheet. They scored 4 against Argentina.
I can see both team scoring in this game. My fantasy team is mainly build with Forwards from these two teams. Mbappe (9M, 3 Goals), Griezmann (11M, 2 Goals), Saurez (11M, 2 Goals & 1 assist) and Cavani (10.5M, 3 Goals) are the players to have in your team for this fixture. There aren’t noteworthy midfielders to pick for based on the performance in this world cup. If you need the defensive coverage, there are many options for it. Pavard (5.5M, 1 Goals) is one of the cheapest and will contribute to attacking returns.

2. Brazil vs Belgium:
This is the most awaited game for me, and it should be a very interesting one. Belgium this time is a young, talented and well-balanced team, while Brazilian is always balanced and in the best shape. Belgium won all 4 matches this time scoring 12 goals and creating 2 clean sheets. Except for Switzerland (1-1 draw), Brazil won all other 3 games with a score line of 2-0.
Both teams like attacking football, and I can see both teams scoring again. Both teams have scored in every game this time. I would again favor having attackers in for my fantasy team. These two teams have many star players, and you should not run out of choices. For the forward lines, some players to watch out are Neymar (12.5M, 2 Goals and 1 assist), Gabriel Jesus (9M, 1 assist), Coutinho (9M, 2 Goals and 1 assist), Lukaku (11M, 4 Goals) and Hazard (11M, 2 Goals, ,2 Assists). Thiago Silva, Vertonghen, Meunier are some of the defensive players to watch out for who will contribute to you offensively as well. There are some budget defenders like Fagner (5.5M) and Boyata(5.5M) to watch out for.

3. Sweden vs England:
I don’t know how this game is going to be. I believe Sweden will sit back and defend while England will look to attack. Sweden has been brilliant this time, and they looked like a defensive unit in all these matches. They managed clean sheets in 3 out of 4 matches and conceded 2 goals against Germany. They looked defensively solid against Switzerland. England looked leaky at the back and yet to have any clean sheets. They look like a one-man team of Harry Kane, and all major contribution in goals coming from Harry Kane, and have scored 9 goals in this world cup.
For you Fantasy team, Harry Kane (11M) is one to have and he is up front on a race of golden boot with 6 goals. Swedish forward Toivonen (6M) had one goal and an assist. There are many budget choices in midfield to choose from like Claesson (5.5M, 2 assists), Forsberg (6.5M, 1 goals), Lingard (7.5 M, 1 goal), but I am not convinced with anyone of them except Harry Kane. For the Swedish side, the majority of goals have come from their defenders. Swedish defenders have been brilliant, and they may shut England out or the game may go to a stalemate. I will prefer some defenders from both teams and my main picks will be Granqvist (5.5M, 2 Goals, 3 Clean sheets), Augustinnson (1 Goals, 3 Clean sheets), Stones (6M, 2 Goals), Trippier (6M, 1 assist). Also, Swedish goalkeeper Olsen is the cheapest goalkeeper available from all 8 teams and come in 5M while Pickford comes at 6M.

4. Russia vs Croatia:
I did never think these 2 teams will make up to this stage, especially Russia who is the lowest rank team in the tournament. In terms of Fantasy, Croatia has more to offer than Russia, but you never know, Russia might surprise us again. Russia scored 9 goals and had 1 clean sheets while Croatia scored 8 goals and had 2 clean sheets. Both teams won in a penalty shoot-out in pre-quarterfinals. So, I won’t be surprised if both teams will be happy to defend and end the game in a stalemate. I can see Russia stay deep down as they did against Spain, and Croatia has one of the most creative midfield to try to break it down.
For you fantasy team, Dzyuba( 7.5M, 3 Goals, and 1 Assist) Golovin(7M, 1 Goal, 2 Assist), Modric (8M, 2 Goals), Perisic (8M, 1 Goal) are some of the offensive players to consider. For your defense, Strinic (5M), Ignashevich (5.5M), Kutepov (5M), Subasic(5.5M) are players to consider.
