NBA Fantasy Thoughts, Picks & Sleepers 10/26
The weekend is here and there is a lot of great action in the NBA tonight. I've joined two fantasy NBA freerolls for this evening and have completed my homework, so I thought I'd share my lineups, thoughts on several players, and my top sleeper picks -- inexpensive players who will outperform their price tag.Yahoo! We are already in the third week of the NBA Yahoo Cup (join here, U.S. only). I actually enjoy playing on Yahoo more than DraftKings because of their interface, player pricing, and the slow nature in which prices increase on players. You can easily find underpriced talent on Yahoo. Prices on players range from a minimum of $10 to around $60 at the peak, and you have a total of $200 to spend while filling all eight spots on your roster. With guard Kris Done injured, Cameron Payne goes from a worthless bum on the bench (in fantasy terms, not in real life) to a hot fantasy commodity. At only $11, he is an absolute must on your roster and my top sleeper. Last time out Cam put up 36 fantasy points in nearly 31 minutes of play. Since Charlotte's defense (Batum) will focus on Zach Levine, Cam should have plenty of room to work. Two other players I like under $20 are Carmelo Anthony and big man Jarrett Allen for the Brooklyn Nets. With the rest of the roster banged up, Anthony should get the start on Friday night, or at least heavy minutes, and he looked great against Utah on Wednesday with 22-7-2. Allen is a smart young player who is quickly rising as a top fantasy center. He has scored over 30 fantasy points in three of his last four outings. He gets a very tough matchup as he faces off against the Pelicans and Anthony Davis, but he's still worth taking a flyer on at $16.I really like the rest of my roster as well with Beal and the Greek Freak leading the way. Gallinari has also been very hot for the Clippers and Carmelo doesn't play defense, so expect big things out of him as well. Before finalizing my roster I always check projected fantasy points on numberfire.com. Cameron Payne is also the player they believe is the most undervalued. Although I didn't work Malcolm Brogdon into this lineup, who is their second choice, I will make another lineup with him included in it.DraftKings In my DraftKings lineup, which I've submitted for their $1,000 freeroll, I'm once again taking the Greek Freak, Cam Payne and Gallinari. I'm also adding a sub-$5,000 Brook Lopez, D'Angelo Russell, Nikola Mirotic, and Damyean Dotson from the New York Knicks. Dotson is a very interesting young player who I think will get garbage time points against the Warriors after they are down by 30 in the 3rd quarter. The top sleepers on DraftKings according to NumberFire are pretty close to what they were with Yahoo. I took their suggestion of adding Brook Lopez and Brogdon.Other Advice: Check Spreads and O/UAnother thing I check before finalizing my lineups are the spreads and over/under lines for each game. I use VegasInsider.com. By seeing how each matchup is projected to go, you can use multiple players from high scoring games and stay away from blowouts where the starters may be rested late in the game. Good luck tonight! I welcome your thoughts below.
