It was the second gold medal for Great Britain in Olympic men’s field hockey. West Germany took the silver medal with the loss, claiming their third silver medal in Olympic men’s field hockey. The Netherlands defeated Australia 2-1 in the bronze medal game, grabbing their third bronze medal in Olympic men’s field hockey history. The tournament was held in South Korea, with Seoul as the host city.
