In South Asian Women's Football Nepal has succeeded in breaking the domination of India. Nepal successfully defeated India in Hero Goldcup Football Championship, which is being held in Odisha, India. This was a historic result for Nepal to beat India for the first time in Women's football.

In the very competitive match, Nepalese women's football team defeated India's women's football team by 2-1 goals. Sabitra Bhandari scored two goals to seal the game for Nepal in the second match of Hero Goldcup. Sabitra, who scored two goals to make Nepal a historic win, also declared the Women of the match. Sabitra scored in the opening 5 and 7 minutes of the game. In the 84th minute, Ratanbala Devi had scored a consolation goal for India.

It is the first time Nepal defeated India in women's football. Myanmar and Iran along with Nepal and India participating in Hero Goldcup Football Tournament. With the win over India, Nepal's chance to reach final is looking possible. Nepalese players participated in this tournament as the preparation of coming to SAFF Women's Championship which is going to held in Nepal next month.
