Coach Liverpool, how you did not know him.

Amateur photographers caught the blue hour between sunset and night. At this fabulous moment, the village of Glatten - without that peace - seemed to have plunged into jelly. Clouds stopped over the hills. Birds hid in the forest. Lanterns crackled a little quieter among the cottages - there are no multi-storey houses in Glatten. But suddenly a terrible scream rang out from behind the forest and, without interruption, approached the city. After a couple of minutes, it became clear that the engine of the so old Volkswagen was screaming that it had no color.

Inside, the traveling salesman was shaking, and in the backseat there were boxes with dowels, wall clamps and tool catalogs. On the return of Norbert Klopp from a trip heard all two thousand residents of Glatten. But only three people were waiting for this sound - the wife of Norbert Elizabeth and his daughters Isolde and Stefanie. The tall Klopp, who himself was a bit like a screw, went home and immediately went to the greatest love - the refrigerator. But Elizabeth stood between them with a smile. A few minutes later, rare passersby heard another scream. This time Norbert himself shouted: after seven years of marriage and two daughters, he will finally have a son. Jürgen began to live up to his expectations.

Norbert all his youth dreamed of becoming a football player. He considered himself a talented goalkeeper, but the path of a 19-year-old guy in sports was over for viewing at Kaiserslautern. A few years later Klopp found himself with his wife and child in his arms in the costume of a seller of building materials. At that moment, the man realized that his son would definitely fulfill his dream. When Jurgen grew up a little, Norbert gave his son what he did not receive from his father as a child.

As a result, Jürgen got into all the sections that were in Glatten: athletics, football, skiing, tennis. Moreover, the last Klopp Sr. organized himself. In the evenings, Norbert dealt with his son as a personal coach. Unfortunately, the seven-year-old was incomparably worse: father smashed Jurgen into tennis with a score of 6: 0, 6: 0, always destroying him in races. Even in football one on one bore it. “You think I'm having fun?” Jurgen roared through tears. “Do you think fun to me?” - answered the father.

“He is ruthless. When we were skiing, I always saw only his red jacket far ahead. He never waited for me. In general, nothing meant that I just got on the skis. He wanted me to be the perfect skier, ” - Jürgen recalled. Both sisters also practiced under the guidance of their father, and the eldest Isolde was the only girl in Glatten who could play football.

Norbert Klopp and his family

From school Klopp earned money. After the lessons and exhausting workouts, Jürgen went to the video rental and sat at the cash register, arranged the tapes and dragged boxes. At the second job, the boy was unloading trucks with goods for a single supermarket in sleepy Glatten.

Salary kid was spending on records and concerts. The love of rock music Jurgen instilled in his mother. The guy’s biggest disappointment was that the Beatles broke up when he was just three years old.

“The best band in the world, as mother said. The Beatles are number one, you must agree. I like Genesis and Kiss - the frontman has an unrealistically long tongue, go crazy!” - said Jürgen.

Despite Norbert’s dream of raising a sports superstar, it quickly became clear that Jürgen was a talentless striker. He scared the goalkeepers only with fierce gestures and jaw dropping in anger. The coaches of the bottom clubs, which Klopp spoke for, understood that these were qualities of an ideal defender.

It is not surprising that Jurgen's favorite player was Stuttgart's central back Karlheinz Förster. He was an absolutely unsophisticated defender who fought until his pulse was lost. “For me, attitude was always more important than talent,” - Klopp said later. This manifested itself at the age of six, when Jürgen broke his collarbone in the very first match, and a week later, he ran around the field for balls flying out. “He spent the whole summer on the landing, and in the winter he set the gates in the living room,” - Klopp's mother recalled Elizabeth. The only trophy of the Klopp player remained the reward for winning the regional tournament in honor of the Holy Trinity Day in 1977.

Norbert never reproached his son by saying that the height of his career was a modest Mainz. After the defeats, the father still saw the same boy in tears in the adult son - “Do you think I have fun?”. Without reaching the summit, Jürgen still achieved much more than he did. So, his mission as Father Norbert fulfilled. He died in 2000 from liver cancer.

Then Jürgen still played for Mainz and could not spend the remaining weeks of his life with his father. But one of the last days the son arrived and sat with his father for conversation until the morning. They were very different: Norbert walked exclusively in suits that he stroked himself, and never let go of the stubble. “The first thing that Jürgen did when he moved out of the house was to throw out the razor and comb”, - Isolde Klopp joked.

All this formed the Jürgen Klopp, whom everyone loves. He is the same as we are - an ordinary person from an average family. Jürgen was not born a genius, and his father did not have high-ranking friends. He did not become a great footballer and did not receive a huge salary. Klopp speaks in simple language, communicates with pedestrians on equal terms and loves dusty rock and roll. Throughout his life, the German proves that success and love necessarily come along with hard work, even if you are not a genius.
