Arjen Robben announces his departure from Bayern Munich at the end of the season

Former Dutch international Arjen Robben had announced that he would leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season for the last six seasons.

"I made this decision a few weeks ago," said Robben, who has been defending the colors of the Bavarian giant since 2009. His statements were quoted by all German newspapers.

"I think it's the best thing I'm doing, and it's a good thing to announce now," said the Dutch pavilion, who will be celebrating its 35th birthday in January. Robben, who has defended Bayern in 305 matches so far, has won seven league titles and scored 143 goals, including a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final in 2013.

"I have been with the club for 10 years and I have had great years with him," said the player who managed to score a 2-1 win over Benfica in the European competition on Tuesday.

"What will I do after Bayern? The offers will come, we will see that soon," he said.

Bayern chief executive Uli Hoeness said on Sunday that Robben and Franck Ribery, 35, were also playing "probably their last season with Bayern."

"The squad will be adjusted next season," Hoeness said, adding that "the club's security is full," confirming the intentions that have emerged in recent weeks.
