Chelsea did not get a new midfielder for the club during the summer transfer window, and now the hunt is on for Juventus' young center-back, Matthijs de Ligt.

When Chelsea settle for a transfer, the club means it seriously. The club failed to bring Sevilla's Jules Koundé to the club, and therefore 'the Blues' will make an effort to bring Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus this summer.

The 22-year-old Dutch center-back is considered one of the greatest defensive talents at the moment, which he proved to be the youngest captain in Ajax's and Champions League history when he wore the captain's armband as a 19-year-old at the club. In 2018, they won the Ligt 'Golden Boy' nomination and the same year became the youngest Dutch national team debutant since 1945.

The Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has chosen the Dutchman, who will have his release clause of 893 million kroner released this summer.

Although midfielders Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rüdiger make it excellent at Chelsea for the time being to have conceded just one goal in six games, Tuchel knows that all three center-backs have uncertain futures at the club, as they all face contract expires soon. De Ligt could be included in the Tuchel system along with AC, which is about to have a new deal in place, and Rüdiger, who is still negotiating with the club.

De Ligt was picked up by Juventus in Ajax in the summer of 2019 for 634 million kroner on the five-year agreement that applies until 2024. It has turned into 80 matches for Juventus, which has currently had the big Dutchman on the bench. However, de Ligt got a starting place yesterday and equalized with the decisive goal to 3-2 over Spezia, which thus cemented Juventus' first victory in Serie A this season.
