Georginio Wijnaldum was one of the very first players that Jurgen Klopp brought to Liverpool after the German took over the helm of the club from Merseyside. Since 2016, the Dutchman has been one of the first on the team card, and the midfielder has played a total of 226 matches in the red jersey. The 30-year-old Wijnaldum has a contract expiration this summer, and something could indicate that he is singing on the last verse in English.
The English newspaper The Times writes that they believe they understand that the Dutchman will not extend his contract with Liverpool, and that FC Barcelona will be ready to welcome Wijnaldum to Catalonia this summer. The Dutch coach of FC Barcelona, Ronald Koeman, was to be a great admirer of the hard-working midfield engine, which he also coached during his period as Dutch national coach. Wijnaldum was a solid man under Koeman, and he was a big player, often contributing goals and assists.
Georginio Wijnaldum has been in Liverpool since 2016. Before his move to England, the 30-year-old midfielder had played for two of the biggest clubs in the Netherlands - Feyenoord and PSV. In addition, he has played 70 matches in the orange national costume and scored 21 for the Netherlands.
