The 2010s in Napoli were marked by great success and playing upturn, where they finished four times as "Best of the Rest" in Serie A after a superb Juventus team. And much of that success can be attributed to the midfield dynamo from Slovakia; Marek Hamsik.

In the period 2007 to 2019, he played over 400 Serie A matches and scored close to 100 goals and 100 assists for "Gli Azzurri" before being sold to Chinese Dalian Yifang. Now the 33-year-old Napoli legend can be on his way to Scandinavia and Swedish IFK Gothenburg.

Marek Hamsik has a contract until the end of 2021 with the Chinese club, but that agreement was supposed to be terminated so that the Slovak can switch transfer-free to IFK Gothenburg. The Swedish newspaper also writes that negotiations between the club and the Hamsik camp have been going on for some time, and the midfielder will soon fly to Sweden to complete the transfer.

It is also expected that IFK Gothenburg will upgrade further with several major players this summer. Both the former FC Copenhagen player Oscar Wendt and the striker Marcus Berg are said to have signed contracts with the Gothenburg club and return to the Allsvenskan from the summer of 2021.

The Swedish league has its first round on April 10, where IFK Gothenburg will meet Örebro away.
