Krasnodar Stadium is one of the best one in Russia! It had been already built not for the tournament. But guess what? Only one exhibition game was held at this stadium. But it wasn’t included in 12 World Cup stadiums in Russia that were built just for the World Cup. Why don't they use this stadium and save the money? A wolf called Zabivaka is made by Tomsk State University student Ekaterina Bocharova. Its name means “goalscorer” in Russian. Zabivaka won a national competition where Russians voted for the official mascot of the tournament. Zabivaka won 52.8% against its opponents, a tiger and a cat. Some Experts believe that all three final mascots were drawn by one person. Valeriya Taburenko was asked to comment on the situation why all three heroes are similar to each other graphically. But she denied replying and said that she can talk to press only with the authorization of the Organization Committee.

3. 3.8 million people are unemployed in Russia. And thanks to the FIFA World Cup 2018 13,000 people have been involved in the construction and renovation of the stadiums. All in all the tournament construction has created 100,000 jobs for local people.

4. Hotels and flat owners are hiking up their prices ahead of the tournament in June and July with an average increase of more than 300 per cent. Prices in the capital, Moscow, where the final will take place on July 15 are up more than 100 percent compared with July last year.The smallest price increases are in Kazan (27 per cent) where France, Australia, Iran and Spain compete in the group stage. Hotels in Russia rise the prices up to 18,000 per cent. Russia's consumer protection agency has fined 539 hotels for raising their prices during hosting 2018 FIFA World Cup.

5. Perhaps you didn’t know but in Russia it was forbidden to drink beer at and near the stadium. During the World Cup the situation will change. Russian legislation has made an exception. FIFA sponsors will be able to sell beer in special areas around the stadiums. It is still forbidden to bring alcohol with you or “inside”. After the tournament the everything will be back to basics.

 

6. English is a global language. But before The FIFA World Cup 2018 lots of Russians didn’t know this fact. While preparing for the tournament great amount of taxi drivers, doctors and police officers were obliged to learn English.
