According to the English newspaper Daily Mail, German Kicker writes today that the Spanish coach Xabi Alonso will not take over the vacant coaching seat in Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer, but that the club is looking at other names.

Kicker further writes that there have been negotiations between Gladbach and Xabi Alonso, but sporting director Max Eberl has chosen another candidate for the job.

It is reportedly a different vision and path the club will than the one Alonso will be able to deliver. The Liverpool and Real Madrid legend was otherwise an obvious choice. He ended his playing career in Bayern Munich, where he gained an in-depth knowledge of the Bundesliga, and at the same time he learned to speak the language.

Gladbach has not yet announced anything official about the coaching situation at the club, but it is quite clear that a new man will be appointed to head the team from this summer.

The coach's seat became vacant when current head coach Marco Rose announced his move to Borussia Dortmund.
