Mesut Ozil's Arsenal career went downhill a lot in the German's last time in London. Things went so badly for the German and his relationship with, among others, the manager, Mikel Arteta, that the Spaniard chose not to select the high-paid midfielder for this season's Premier League squad, and the whole fad ended in a contract release in January. Mesut Ozil went to the heart club, Fenerbache, where he hoped to rediscover the joy of playing that he could no longer find at Arsenal.
The German's contract originally expires this summer, but among other things due to his extreme salary of just under $340,000, Arsenal chose not to have him for the last six months.
Many initially thought that when it was a breach of contract, Fenerbache was responsible for the salary, but nonetheless, The Athletic now reports that this is not the case. Arsenal still pay 90% of the 32-year-old German-Turkish's sky-high salary - that is, as much as $325,574 a week.
However, the World Cup winner's Fenerbache career has not gone much better at the moment than his last time at Arsenal, as it has only turned into seven appearances for the Turkish big club, and the German has not managed to deliver either a goal or a presentation yet. Mesut Ozil is currently out with a knee injury.
