It was the most-anticipated premier league fixture this week between two teams who have a lot of history between them. Man United hosted Chelsea for their first opening game of the 2019/2020 season. Both teams being coached by young coaches and former legends of their respective clubs. It was a game that will most likely raise a lot of concerns and talking point for the away side, as Man United came out with a thumping win to move just below Man City on the table.

Man United had a very poor season last season and was largely regarded as a disappointment. They still have faith in Ole Solskjaer and his methods, as the board have not only equipped him with a few signings but also giving him backing that they will be more signings in the future. They have begun their new season campaign in a great fashion, beating Chelsea 4 nil at home, a dream start for them as they look to achieve their targets this season.

Chelsea in contrast to Man United, had a pretty successful last season under Sarri, securing champions league football and claiming the Europa league trophy. A lot has happened these past few months for them and the club have decided to go through a totally new direction this time. It’s the Frank Lampard era this time, a new direction for the club which has seen lots of excitements since the announcement was made official. So far so good, Chelsea have had a very good pre-season and it was time to showcase what they have learnt from the new boss, however, it was not a results anyone would have hoped for, and they will be highly disappointed to walk away from Old Trafford with a heavy defeat like that even though they were the better team for most parts of the game.

It was a great game of football by Chelsea, showing some very good play, however, Man United were more clinical and their counter-attacking style proved more effective. A great win for Solskjaer and a huge loss to Chelsea in their opening game of the season. Frank Lampard will be disappointed with the result but will take a lot of positives from this game as they keep aiming to build something great at the club.
