Manchester United vs Manchester City

Saturday is here again and as always, it is an exciting new day. As expected, premier league actions begin in few hours’ time with the Liverpool vs Bournemouth fixture set to kick-off as the fixture of the day. The biggest match of the week kicks off tomorrow at Old Trafford as Man United set to host Man City for an exciting derby clash of the Manchesters tomorrow.

Man United are a true definition of a team having an up and down season, alongside Chelsea and a host of other teams as well. Their recent premier league games have seen them earn 8 points in their last 5 premier league games. However, they are just 3 points shy of the top 4 and are joint on point with Wolves who have impressed yet again this season. One of the biggest targets of Man United this season is to play champions league football next season, which means, either they finish in the top 4 or they end up winning the Europa League trophy, this will ensure that the fans will get to see their team competing in the champions league once again. With that aside, Man United have a huge task on their hands at home tomorrow against Man City, in their quest to continue putting pressure on Chelsea in the top 4 race. A difficult game for them as the odds are heavily against them to get anything at home. However, we all know what Man United are capable of especially when playing against teams that like to attack and push men forward.

Man United are expected to set up in a 3-4-3 or a 4-2-3-1 formation. They are known for their counter-attacking prowess especially against teams that like to keep the ball and attack. They will most likely set up to counter-attack and try to capitalize on opportunities to hurt their City rivals at home.

Man City are quite the opposite of their fellow City rival in terms of form, performances and results. Their recent 5 premier league games haven’t been great but they’ve managed 10 points out of 15 points. It is already clear that they have given up in their title race as Liverpool even though they finally got their first loss of the season, will most likely win the league without losing any more games. While the league is definitely over for them, they’ve already clinched the EFL Cup and are also looking to win the FA Cup and champions league as well, with the FA Cup looking more of a realistic target, which would mean that they could end up having a successful season by finishing the season a double winners. The sad news for them is that even though they will finish second in the premier league, their recent UEFA ban means that they will not play in the champions league even though they end up winning the champions league as well. For now, their attention is on tomorrow’s game against Man United at Old Trafford, a derby game that means a lot for both teams and the fans. So for Man City, this is a game that they will be aiming to win to get another edge above their City rivals.

Man City are expected to set up in their usual 4-3-3 formation. As I normally say, there is usually not much to say when it comes to Pep and Man City as they have a certain style of play with minor tactical flexibility here and there. They are also expected to dominate possession at Old Trafford and will be looking to find spaces in the game to hurt Man United.

What do you think will be the outcome of this fixture?

I would love to read your thoughts and opinions… Enjoy your day.
