World Cup 2018 Russia

The veteran Egyptian goalkeeper discussed the ball of the World Cup

Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El Hadary ensured that nowadays goalkeepers are “victims” of each change of the ball and said that in his opinion the ball chosen for the World Cup in Russia, Telstar of the German brand Adidas, is “much better for the field players than for the goalkeepers”.

"We have been victims of FIFA and football development, every 4 years new balls appear. This ball might be better for the field players but not for goalkeepers, we played with the balls of the similar quality in the past. We are goalkeepers and we always suffer because we need to practice much more when new balls are used", - said Essam during the press-conference in Saint Petersburg.

The veteran Egyptian goalkeeper believes this ball has “some deficiencies” but states he has accustomed to the ball after using it in the African Cup and qualifiers.

El Hadary is 45 years old, it means he can become the oldest player of the World Cup if he plays, although the coach of Egypt, Argentine Héctor Cúper, decided to trust his teammate Mohamed El Shenawy in the first matches.
