La Liga have confirmed the first-ever Spanish original series named Six Dreams to be aired on Amazon Prime in conjunction with MediaPro.
Amazon Prime are releasing the first-ever Spanish original series Six Dreams: a fly-on-the-wall documentary about La Liga.
The filming process took place last year with six one-hour episodes focusing on six individuals, including three players and two Coaches.
Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams, Real Betis midfielder Andres Guardado and Saul Niguez of Atletico Madrid are the three players involved, while former Sevilla Coach Eduardo Berizzo, Girona’s sporting director Quique Carcel and Eibar’s female president Amaia Gorostiza also feature.
The docu-series is directed by Justin Webster, who at the press launch of the event last March stated it will be shot in “observational, verité style with very little commentary from the episodes’ subjects but a structured narrative.”
La Liga chief Javier Tebas commented: “We like telling soccer stories, we do it live every weekend, but think there are other stories, sometimes extraordinary, which can go on entertaining during the week.”
There are a number of revealing stories unveiled in the series, including when Real Madrid president Florentino Perez told his Eibar counterpart Amai Gorostiza in March: “It has been a horrible season, horrible.”
Another key feature is the journey of Berizzo, now at Athletic Club, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer during the campaign.
The cameras capture the Argentine telling his press officer Jesus Gomez: “It’s as my mother says: "For people to love you, you have to die first.””
Athletic Club’s Williams speaks of his battle against racism among plenty more behind the scenes footage.
