Real Madrid star Marco Asensio admits he ‘does not pay much attention’ to the hype surrounding his playing career.
The young forward has risen to prominence for club and country over the past year but he explained he is focused on improving and ‘winning with Real Madrid’.
“I try not to pay much attention to the expectations that are on me,” Asensio told an interview with GQ, as cited by El Desmarque.
“It is normal that so many expectations have been generated, because I have had two very good years at Real Madrid, I just hope to continue surpassing them.
“My first choice is always to win at Real Madrid, after that you never know what can happen, Real Madrid is the most demanding club in the world and from the beginning you know you have to be prepared and give everything for the shirt.
“I have already had the opportunity to be a starter in very important matches both in Madrid and in the national team, I hope that each time I can repay that and more regularity in both teams.
“Lopetegui? Julen is a Coach with a very clear football idea and personally I like him a lot, he adds a lot of intensity to the training and he is demanding with us.”
