Well our last game in this Champions League campaign and we do have to ask when the next campaign will start! We will miss out on a new Champions League adventure for sure next season!

So the only thing to do is to make the best of this game and try to win our first ever Champions League game! And maybe the timing could be great!

Both Napoli and Genk are having a tough season! Genk already did replace their coach and the job of Ancelotti is pretty insecure! Not only the job of Ancelotti is on the line but also the jobs of some of the players! Chairman De Laurentiis of Napoli already did threatened to sell all key players because they are underperforming! He already hand us some amazing fines. So, it isn't hard to say that Napoli at the moment is a Vulcano waking upand can explode any minute! Not a lot is needed to trigger it!

Record books

Altough we did expect more from this Champions League campaign, we maybe can write a new record in the record books. It all depends who will be the goalie of this evening. Since 2 games Coucke has been replaced by 17 years old Vandervoordt! And he didn't disappoint in the past 2 games! If Wolf decided to give him the confidence he will be the youngest starting goalkeeper ever in the Champions League. The current record is also from a Belgian player: Mile Svilar was 2 years ago only 18 years and 52 days old. Maarten could set the record on 17 years and 287 days! A record which will be hard to break!

While Coucke made 2 mistakes in his last two games, both keepers are promising but Vandervoordt is a goalie with better feet. He looks so much more relaxed when getting a pass then Coucke was!

Our first win ever?

Well this will be hard! Like written above both teams are actually playing like a dream. KRC Genk is improving a little bit, certainly mentally compared with the home game against Napoli! We could have won the home game against Napoli but Napoli also had changes to claim the 3 points!

Which forsure is against us is that Napoli possibly will need the 3 points to reach the knock-out plhase of the Champions League. If Salzburg wins at home against Liverpool, which isn't unthinkable, they do need a victory! Liverpool can guarantee themselves of the next round with a draw or if Napoli doesn't win!

So the scoreboard of the Salzburg vs Napoli game will have an impact on this game!

Compared to the home game we will miss Heynen, which is passing. Probably he will be replaced by Hrosovsky, who still needs to convice most supporters that he gives added value to the squad. I personally do hope that Hagi may start. He adds some more forward pressure to the team, but has to defend also! Defending will of course be crucial but we may not forget to attack! If we don't create changes we will loose! So I do hope on a offensive formation of Wolf.

The local newspaper doesn't think that this will happen:

At the back Dewaest and De Norre will have to fight for every ball! And when in possession pass the ball as fast as possible to one who can set up an attack, because that isn't one of their qualities.
Wouters will replace Cuesta, who is injured, and will form a tandem with Berge. If Berge plays an excellent game, an offer of Napoli is alsmost guaranteed!
I do hope that HBVL is wrong about Ito and that we can have Ito and Maehle on our right side!

Samatta did already score three goals in this CL campaign but still is looking for his form from last season. He does work his ass off, but we can't ignore that it is so much harder for him to score!

We can only hope and maybe Santa Claus has an early Christmas present for Genk!

Cheers,

Peter
