The Jupiler Pro League Play Offs are running on it's end. 4 more rounds to go and still lot's of scenario's possible! Genk has a 6 point lead over Club Brugge but still needs 7 points out of the remaining 4 games to be sure!

My thoughts

Well it are all games between the teams in the top 3 against the teams in the bottom 3. But in a play off format this isn't as easy as it sounds!

Genk and Antwerp will kick off round 7 on Friday evening. Both have an excellent change to put pressure on Club Brugge and Standard.
If Antwerp could repeat the hold up of their home game against Genk and would win again, this will have closed the gap with Club Brugge, resulting in a fact that Club Brugge suddenly not only can focus on closing up on Genk but also does need to watch hat is happening behind them!

The draw would be a bad result for both teams. For Antwerp this would mean that Standard is back within stricking distance in the race for the third place, while Genk could see their lead decrease to 4 points. With the game away at Club Brugge next, this would not be a pleasant thought!
I do expect that Antwerp will come fully armed, they will try to kill the game as much as possible trying to keep the pace out of it! Genk will go for the attack! As long as Genk doesn't take the lead, the foul play of Antwerp will increase by the minute!

On Sunday the 2 remaining games will be played. First up is Standard away at Anderlecht. The game in Standard was suspended due to misbehavior of the Anderlecht fans. New disruptions are possible again! The fan of Anderlecht aren't happy at all! Anderlecht will only play for pride, while Standard needs the 3 points in the race for third place. They could win the title, but that would mean that they do need to win the 4 reamining games and that Genk has to loose them all. That won't happen!

The last game is Club Brugge away at Gent. Gent did loose the cup final on Wednesday and we, the Genk supporters, are hoping that some fighting spirit is left to steal some points from Club Brugge! Just like Anderlecht Gent has only collected 1 point in the PO but the difference with Anderlecht is that they did deserve more. Club Brugge is enemy number 1 for Gent, which will make it a tough game for Club Brugge. The home game against Anderlecht cannot be used as reference due to the fact that Anderlecht was weak and playing like a weasel! If Genk wins their game on Friday, the pressure will be on! The coach of Club Brugge did admit that their plan of attack during the PO was to get under the skin of Genk but that this has back fired and that Genk is increasing the pressure week by week!

After this weekend, the champion will not be known yet, but we will have some more insight in the chances of all teams. Maybe we can scratch some teams from the list of potential champions. If Antwerp looses they are out! If Standard doesn't have a better result than Genk they are out too!

Genk is still dreaming of the scenario of being able to take the title in the game away at Club Brugge. If both teams do have the same result, this scenario would be possble. But it also will be possible if Club Brugge doesn't win their game!

Forza Racing!!!!!

Cheers,
Peter
