Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, both became the 8th Super Eagles of Nigeria player(s) to win the English FA Cup [ now christened the Emirates FA Cup ].
Courtesy of Youri Tielemans' 63rd minute strike, Leicester City which had both Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho in action won this year's competition at the expense of Chelsea.
The duo with Leicester City's victory joined 7 other Nigerians, who.lifted the coveted English FA Cup in the past.
The 7 other players to have won the English FA Cup includes Daniel Amokachi, Celestine Babayaro, Nwankwo Kanu, John Utaka, John Mikel Obi, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses.
Daniel Amokachi was the first Super Eagles player to have lifted the FA Cup, as he was part of the Everton side that won it in 1995.
Celestine Babayaro followed followed suit, as he was part of the Chelsea side who lifted the trophy in 1998.
Nwankwo Kanu became the third Nigerian to have won the FA Cup and the first to have done it more than once. He won it twice with Arsenal in 2002 and 2003 before winning his third with Portsmouth in 2008.
John Utaka was won the FA Cup alongside Nwankwo Kanu with Portsmouth in 2008 as well. They became the first Nigerian duo to have won it, playing for the same team and at the same year.
John Mikel Obi became the first and only Nigerian player to have won the FA Cup four times in his career and he achieved that playing for Chelsea. Mikel was part of the Chelsea teams that lifted the trophy in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2012.
Then came Alex Iwobi, who lifted the Emirates FA Cup with Arsenal in 2017 before Victor Moses did same with Chelsea in 2018.
