I know you guys aren't much familiar with this name but he was one of a kind. Widely considered as one of the best and most elegant defensive midfielders ever, he was part of that famous Tenerife side which twice denied Real Madrid the Liga title on the last matchday for two straight seasons.

He was probably the most important player in the Champions League success in 1998 and 2000. He played the best games of his career in those campaigns. Dismantling Dortmund and Juventus in 98 in semifinal and final, respectively.

The quaterfinal of 2000 against Manchester United was the highlight of his career, he just outplayed their midfield(which was considered the best at that time) and earned Real Madrid a win at Old Trafford. He then gave another big performance against Valencia in the final.

He have some worldly games against Barcelona in El Clasico to his name too. Unfortunately, he was sold to AC Milan after the Champions League success despite his desire to stay, which even fans protested.
