Pre-Match Analysis

It promises to be another exhilarating encounter between two teams that are on the race for a spot in next season's UEFA Champions league. The league hasn't been funny this campaign and booking a place in top four could be as good as topping the table in some previous seasons. With Manchester city and Liverpool appearing to be on the class of their own, the likes of Tottenham, Manchester united, Arsenal and Chelsea have been left to battle for the remaining two spot. A slip by any team now could prove fatal to their quest, considering the fact that not too many games are left.

So back to Arsenal vs Manchester United. This game is coming at a time when both teams are tightly close to each other on the table, in fact, anyone that wins on Sunday will revel the victory a bit more longer than usual. Unai Emery's side are going into this game after a bad outing in France few days ago. If you ask me, I will say Arsenal is the wounded lions here. The Gunners got more than they bargained for in their Europa League round of 16 first leg encounter with Rennes in France. A poor outing and a porous defense saw them defeated 3-1 in a game that they were leading earlier.

They know they need to win back the affection and support of their angry fans, and Manchester united could be the sacrificial lamb for that ritual of pacification. With the Europa league result putting them at the brink of elimination, Unai will not allow Manchester united to be a stumbling block to their quest of finishing top four. It's gonna be a total showdown of sword for sword at the Emirates stadium. Though Arsenal's defensive lapses have continued to raised big concerns from fans and sports analysts around the globe, Unai Emery's side seems more advantaged in tomorrow's game considering the set of players that will be missing in United's Lineup due to injuries. If he explores his options well, trust me, Ole's struck of magic might be neutralized.

At the Other side of the river is a high flying Manchester united side that is led by a baby-faced magical Olé, who seem not to pay regards to the gods and will defy any odd that stands as a stumbling block. You can always stand against thousands of lions led by any other man, but any team should be wary of hundreds of sheep led by an "Ole." This Sunday, United will be looking forward to continuing their awesome form against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium. Since the arrival of their caretaker manager, the reds have been unchained from their unending defeat syndrome under Mourinho.

In fact, few months ago, no one would have given them a chance of survival in the league, not to talk of being in contention for a Champions league spot. However, the tides have turned in their favour and the reds are now the "Red Devils" of Alex Ferguson's days. United are heading into this game with their morale boosted by 100% after coming from behind to stage a historic comeback against PSG in France. Ole Gunnar's side were defeated 2-0 at Old Trafford by the French champions in their Champions league round of 16 first leg encounter. However, when we all thought The reds were not yet good enough product for European competitions, Manchester United went on to humble PSG 3-1 in the second leg, thereby becoming the first team to upturn such result in Champions league after losing at home by two goals.

Ole have proven that he is the Champion's slayer and a team like Arsenal that he is used to won't be a big mountain to climb. He is at the verge of signing a contract with Manchester United as a full time coach, and beating Unai Emery's side at the Emirates stadium will add to his accolades. With the Likes of Romelu Lukaku and Rashford currently leading the attack with full force, a jittery Arsenal's defense will stand no chance when the reds come knocking. Also playing against a shot stopper like De Gea in between the sticks means that Arsenal's attack will have to be extra clinical if they must neutralize the magic of Ole Gunnar's side.

A Little Glance Through The Stats

The Previous five between Manchester United and Arsenal across all competitions have seen the red devils having an upper hand over the Gunners. The reds have won three of those meetings, drew one and suffered one defeat in the hands of Emery's side. A total of 17 goals have also been score, with United netting 10 and Arsenal scoring the remaining 7 goals. It's also worthy of note that not less than two gaols have been scored in those previous five games. I guess this will help those placing bet to weigh their options better.

After 29 games so far in the premier league, Manchester united is seen sitting at the fourth position with 58 points to their name. The red devils have registered 17 victories, played 7 draws and have suffered 5 defeats this season. Ole Gunnar's side have also scored 58 goals in the league already after firing 397 shots and hitting 184 on target. You think that's a commendable stats? Well, that may matter less now.

At the other end is Arsenal sitting on the fifth position with 57 points to their name. Just one point behind United, and that tells you how interesting Sunday's clash will be. Unai Emery's side have also won 17 games, settled for 6 draws and suffered 6 defeats. The Gunners have scored 61 goals so far in the league after firing 354 shots and hitting 135 on target. These shows that Arsenal have been more clinical than United, as they seem to have converted more with lesser attempts.
