No doubt, this Pandemic has caused and is still causing great fear across the globe. From the situation on ground, it seems we are not likely to see a solution as fast as we envisaged. People are leaving the planet in thousands daily, obviously not what we foresaw coming. Not too long ago, The Chief of Staff to The Nigerian President, Mr Abba Kyari kicked the bucket after testing positive to the virus last month or thereabout. My thoughts are with his family. Let's talk football.
Yesterday being Friday, I read in the news that the Premier League Authorities had an online conference with English Premier league teams, and the dominant topic of the conference was centered on the resumption of the league. I read they went on to make known their modalities and preparations in place, as they continue to explore the possibility of completing the league. The games if it will eventually be played, will be played behind closed doors, that is, fans will not be allowed into the stadia where games will be taking place.
They are also plans to run tests on all the players, coaches, staff and officials before each game commences. However, all proposals are subject to the approval of the government. With the way this virus is going, I really doubt if the UK government will give a go ahead for the league to resume. It can crest a great deal of distractions, especially as regards the control of covid-19 spread. Apart from that, lots of players won't even be able to concentrate due to fear of their safety and that of their families.
For example, When the Brazilian Willian was asked about his thoughts as regards the idea of possible resumption, he said, "Maybe a player can have the virus and we play against each other. I play against someone and I get the virus then I go home after the game to stay with my family and pass the virus to my wife or daughters. So we have to be careful about that." I mean, you can perceive the fear from these folks. Can't this games really wait, Life is all that matters now.
