TRANSFER: Lucas Digne completes move to the Villa Park

Former Everton left-back Lucas Digne has completed a move to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa. The news of Digne's exit was made official on Thursday morning.

The left-back was doomed for an exit after he had an altercation with manager Rafa Benitez. Although not giving us a direct picture, it was pretty clear Benitez wanted the left-back out of the club.

As it stands, Aston Villa have now made two high-profile signings courtesy of manager Steven Gerard.

Digne's future at Villa

Lucas Digne would be marked as the second signing made by the Villa side. After securing the services of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

From his post-signing statement, Digne pointed out that the presence of Steven Gerard was a major factor behind his decision. In more precise terms, he pointed out that it would not be wrong to say that he came for the manager.

Other reasons behind Digne's decision

Asides the managers presence, Digne explained another major reason why he made a move to Villa Park.

According to him, Aston Villa are known to be a team who like to show attacking intent. Hence, he would be giving more room to express himself up front.
