This weekend was the first time this season, that Jammerbugt FC turned up to a game as “the team to beat”. The team in top spot, ready to fight to keep hold on that first place position.
It didn’t seem to shake this young team as the game was only a few minutes old when the ball hit the net behind the opponent's goalkeeper.
Jammerbugt FC was playing an away game against FC Sydvest, a club close to the German boarder in southern parts of Denmark. Far from Jammerbugt FC in the north – in Danish terms anyway.
Historically a place were Jammerbugt FC has had a hard time. The last two visits have both left Jammerbugt FC empty handed on a long road home to the north afterwards. This time it was different.
The opening goal came after just a few minutes, when last round's hattrick hero, Sead Gavranovic, started where he left off and scored the first goal of the match. The assist came from another Jammerbugt FC striker, Viktor Ahlmann, who later showed he too is looking sharp in front of the goal.
Viktor added another two goals to Seads opener and Jammerbugt FC went on to secure a comfortable 3-0 win in a match they controlled from first to last whistle.
It was another three points and another clean sheet. The team did not give many chances away and looked good in the offense as well. In fact the team seems to have reached its best form so far this season.
- 21 points from the 9 matches in 2. Division.
- 18-5 goal score in the 9 matches in 2. Division.
- 6 victories in a row, including a cup game.
- 3 clean sheets in a row.
- 11 games unbeaten this season.
From big favorites to major underdogs in a couple of days
Jammerbugt FC is in great shape at just the right time. Because the team will need to be at its absolutely best on Wednesday night, when Esbjerg fB, from the "Superligaen", the best league in Denmark (with 1. division as the league in between) is visiting Jammerbugt FC from 2. division at home as part of the Danish Cup tournament.
Esbjerg fB is currently placed 6th in Denmark with fulltime pro players, including the world famous Rafael van der Vaart, who has played at Hamburger SV, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur among others. It will be a tough task as well as a big experience for the amateur status Jammerbugt FC players, who all have jobs or studies alongside their football careers.
It is a big occasion and a big opportunity for both club and players to show their quality, and unlike playing in second division, it is a game with nothing too loose. So the guys are ready to go out and give it their best in the quest for a big surprise to upset the whole soccer Denmark and to get an entry ticket to play the next round as well.
If Jammerbugt FC succeeds, it will be the first time in history, that the club has reached that stage in the tournament. It will take more than just being in good shape to beat Esbjerg fB though. But with hard work, a firm belief in themselves as a team and some great support from the fans, well then anything is possible!
Contributor of the articles of Jammebugt FC - Stats & History
My name is Thomas Jansen and my history with the club starts back in my childhood, where I at a young age started playing for the club. I have been doing so ever since. Unfortunately, I do not play that much anymore, but instead I am active outside the field.
For the last ten years, I have been taking care of many different tasks in and around Jammerbugt FC. To name a few, I have been taking care of the clubs foreign players, assisting with players contracts and registration, coordinated logistics associated with the 1st team, worked with sponsorship, the brand of club and the development of the club in general. All as part of the clubs great team of people working behind the scene.
These days I am in charge of communications associated with the clubs first team and the under 17 and under 19 academy teams. Still, just like when I started as a 6 year old, I do it with great passion for soccer in general and for Jammerbugt FC in particular.
